PORTLAND (AP) — Jeremy Rivera, Jantzen Witte and Josh Tobias each had three hits, as the Portland Sea Dogs beat the Reading Fightin Phils 6-2 on Sunday. The win snapped a three-game losing streak for the Sea Dogs and a four-game winning streak for the Fightin Phils.
Rivera singled three times, scoring four runs. Witte doubled twice and singled, scoring a run and also driving one home.
Portland went up 3-1 in the fourth after Josh Ockimey hit an RBI single, bringing home Rivera.
After Portland added a run in the sixth when Rivera scored on a wild pitch, the Fightin Phils cut into the deficit in the eighth inning when Cornelius Randolph hit an RBI single, bringing home Kyle Martin.
The Sea Dogs later tacked on two runs in the eighth when Witte and Tobias hit RBI singles to secure the victory.
Portland left-hander Kyle Hart (3-3) picked up a quality start and the win after allowing two runs on seven hits over eight innings. Opposing starter Jose Taveras (0-1) took the loss in the Eastern League game after allowing two runs and five hits over three innings.
