YORK — Morgan Brousseau ripped a single to left field in the top of the eighth inning, sending Amanda’lyn Gagne across the plate and securing 3-2 late-season softball win for Poland over York on Tuesday.

Ally Gagne struck out eight for the Knights (9-7) and gave up five hits. Brousseau finished with two hits and one RBI, while Ally Gagne helped her own cause with a pair of singles.

Hannah Gennard and Abby Kavanaugh led York with doubles.

Buckfield 18, Valley 3, 5 innings

BUCKFIELD — Julia Dow scattered six hits and received ample run support Tuesday as Buckfield hustled to a 18-3 rout over Valley in late-season softball action.

Cara Merrill, Cassidy Hart, Hannah Shields, Maggie Bragg and Molly Bourget each belted two hits for the Bucks (14-4) in a well-rounded effort.

Kennedy Savoy led the Cavaliers (5-8) with an RBI double.

Baseball

York 11, Poland 1

YORK — Jack Kelley scattered four hits and drew ample run support as York rolled to a 11-1 baseball victory over Poland on Tuesday. 

Dawson Gundlah and Tommy Carr led York with two hits apiece, including an RBI double by Gundlah. Brady Downing led the Knights with an RBI double. 

Gawain Tibbetts suffered the loss after working the first two frames. York jumped out to a five-run advantage in the first and was never challenged.

Cape Elizabeth 12, Gray-New Gloucester 0

GRAY — Sean Agrodnia scattered six hits in seven innings and drew all kinds of run support as Cape Elizabeth cruised to an easy 12-0 romp over Gray-New Gloucester in more baseball action Tuesday. 

Alec Riggle led the Capers (10-6) with three hits and four RBIs, while Cooper Hoffman belted out three hits. 

Elijah Winchester led the Patriots (9-7) with a double. 

Girls’ lacrosse

Edward Little 14, Mt. Ararat 12

AUBURN — Lydia Celani netted four goals and Sierra Green added two as Edward Little rolled to a 14-12 girls’ lacrosse victory over Mt. Ararat on Tuesday.

Megan Steele, Piper Norcross and Sarah Sterling each scored twice for the Red Eddies, and Madison Travers scored once.

Fiona Hoang led the Eagles with eight goals, while Erin Hartley added two. Hannah Hustin and Shannon Hartley also scored for Mt. Ararat. 

Erin Anderson made six saves for Edward Little, and Eliza Libby turned aside eight shots for Mt. Ararat. 

Oxford Hills 18, Gardiner 5

GARDINER — Cecelia Dieterich registered a hat trick Tuesday to lead Oxford Hills to a convincing 18-5 victory over Gardiner in a girls’ lacrosse tilt.

Cassidy Wallow, Maggie Hartnett and Caroline Burns chipped in for the Vikings (9-2) with two goals each, while single goals from Derry Bessette, Julia Colby, Jade Smedberg, Gillian Grover, Ella Kellogg, Megan Godbout, Morgan Letourneau and Megan Letourneau completed the scoring. 

Kaylee Loveley and Evelyn Hinkley led the Bulldogs with two goals each, and Madison Smith also tallied.

Tiana James made 16 saves for Oxford Hills, while Willow Lavoie turned aside three shots for Gardiner.
