DEAR SUN SPOTS: The American Red Cross is counting on volunteer donors to give blood and help ensure patient needs can be met this summer. Around Memorial Day, the Red Cross sees a steep decline in blood donations. Busy summer schedules, vacations and school breaks also cause a drop in donations.
Accidents and medical emergencies don’t take a summer break — patients need blood every minute, every day. Between May 21 and June 15, there are blood donation opportunities scheduled for multiple locations throughout southern and central Maine, including Lewiston, Lisbon Falls, Sabattus, Bridgton, Brunswick, Gray, Harrison, New Gloucester, Raymond, Strong, Augusta, Farmingdale, Winslow, Winthrop, Bowdoin and Topsham.
To learn more or schedule an appointment, download the free Red Cross Blood Donor app, visit RedCrossBlood.org or call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767). —No name, no town

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I’m looking for a dealer or someone who buys Portmeirion Botanic Garden china. —No name, no town
ANSWER: This beautiful pottery is made by the Portmeirion Group, formerly Portmeirion Potteries of Stoke-on-Trent in England. Botanic Garden, launched in 1972, is the company’s most recognized design and depicts floral illustrations adapted from Thomas Green’s Universal or-Botanical, Medical and Agricultural Dictionary.
If no one answers your desire to sell your dishes through Sun Spots, you may be able to sell that china on eBay. There does seem to be some interest there.
