WATERVILLE — Messalonskee jumped out to an overpowering 15-2 halftime lead and glided to a 20-8 win over Oxford Hills in a girls’ lacrosse matchup Thursday.

Ally Turner led the Eagles with five goals. She was was backed up by Chloe Tilley, Lauren Pickett and Abigail Varney with three goals each. Lauren Pickett chipped in two goals and three assists for Messalonskee (8-4). 

Other players who contruibuted in the win were Jenna Nash and Katie Seekins, who each scored two goals. Seekins also assisted on two goals. 

Oxford Hills (9-3) picked up the scoring a bit in the second half with help from Cassidy Walo’s team-leading two goals. The Vikings had six players who scored a goal a piece, inlcuding Julia Colby, Caroline Burns, and Megan Godbout. Burns and Colby also added an assist a piece.

Sadie Colby saved three shots out of 11 attempts for the Eagles, while Tiana James saved eight for the Vikings on 28 shots. 

The Eagles will face Lewiston in the KVAC championship game Saturday. Oxford Hills will open up the A North postseason against Portland next week.
