SKOWHEGAN — Lauren Merrill threw a two-hitter as the Oxford Hills Vikings defeated the Skowhegan Indians 3-0 for the KVAC Championship.

Sydney Reeds and Lindsey Waner were the only two Indians to get a hit.

The game remained scoreless until the fifth inning when Ashley Childs hit a ball into center field. She later came in for a run on Madison Day’s hit down the left-field line.

Childs finished the game with a single and a double. 

Oxford Hills added two more runs in the top of the sixth inning. With two outs, Brooke Carson’s double scored one. Merrill worked a bases-loaded walk to score the third run.

Skowhegan maintains the top spot in Class A North, and will open the postseason against No. 8 Bangor.

Oxford Hills is the second seed, and will face No. 7 Mt. Ararat in the quarterfinals.
