TURNER — Tuesday, June 5, at 6:30 p.m., “Music for Mavis” at the Turner Gazebo presents Rabbi Sruli and Lisa, sometimes known as “Hoot ‘n Annie”, a toe-tapping, joyous, dance-inspiring duo, bringing old-world Klezmer music, which enlivens the spirit and produces happiness.
Rabbi Sruli and his wife, Lisa, are international Jewish performers and personalities, and have been featured on PBS-TV and National Public Radio. They have headlined at Jewish Festivals from Cracow, Poland to Jerusalem, Toronto to Texas. They have performed at theaters, JCC’s, synagogues, universities and schools as well as at hundreds of simchas. Together with their talented children, they performed at Citifield for the NY Mets.
Rabbi Sruli and Lisa combine the best of several worlds – a scholarly background in Talmud and the law, delightful storytelling talent and tradition, musical virtuosity, a passionate Jewish spirit, and a gift for creating a happy sense of community.
Rabbi Sruli and Lisa provide leadership to Temple Shalom Synagogue in Auburn.
The hat is passed to contribute to the musicians. Suggested donation is $5. Bring a chair, bring a blanket, bring a friend.
