LEWISTON — Lucille Hobbs, a beloved mother, grandmother and friend, returned to her heavenly home on Thursday, March 1. She was 95.
A native of Lewiston, Lucille was born June 3, 1922. While working as a waitress she caught the eye of William “Bill” Hobbs. The two were married in 1946, after Bill’s return from World War II.
Lucille was an active member of the Catholic Church, and her faith in God was a great source of her strength.
She believed in hard work and service, and volunteered for The Odd Fellows’ and Rebekahs’ Home of Maine and St. Mary’s Hospital well into her 80s. An avid golfer, Lucille enjoyed playing at Poland Spring Country Club. She also loved to cook, especially dishes that celebrated her French heritage. Friends and family looked forward to receiving her famous candy and crepes each Christmas.
Lucille’s greatest joy was her family. She is survived by her son, Gary Hobbs, and fiancee, Robin Long; her grandchildren, Jameson Hobbs and partner, Jen Blodgett, and Tyler Hobbs; along with many nieces and nephews.
Lucille was predeceased by her husband of 56 years, Bill; her daughter, Gail; and her granddaughter, Amanda.
