NORWAY — Joyce A. Reid, 80, of West Minot passed away peacefully Tuesday, June 5, at Norway Rehabilitation Center.

She was born June 9, 1937, to David and Veronica Major, the fourth of 11 children. She graduated from school in Mechanic Falls in 1956 and remained in the area her whole life. She married Hedley Reid in the same year and they made Minot their home, where they raised four children.

Joyce loved children and enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was able to spend time Friday with her newest great-grandchild, which pleased her very much. She also loved puzzles and puzzle books, as well as playing board and card games.

She lived alone after losing her husband nearly 40 years ago, but was very independent and kept herself busy with family and many friends; Barbara Bernier of Minot was one of her dearest. In better days she would go out regularly with friends, often dancing until all hours of the night. Joyce was always smiling and made her presence known when she entered a room. She will be missed for her sharp wit and sense of humor.

She is survived by her children James Reid and wife, Rhonda, of Hebron, Bill Reid and wife, Gail, of Minot; 11 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren; and all of her brothers and sisters, David, Larry, Jerry, George, Nelson, Bob, Mary, Ruth, Sandy, Pat.

She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Hedley; son, Brian; daughter, Carol; and a child in infancy.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the people at Norway Rehabilitation Center for her excellent care these last several months.

Online condolences may be shared with her family at www.chandlerfunerals.com.
