JAY — Two brothers, including one who is wanted in Massachusetts, are accused of assaulting two teenagers early Thursday on Hidden Circle, Cpl. Jeffrey Fournier said Friday.

The 17-year-olds, a boy and a girl, told police that Benjamin York, 23, of Jay provided them with alcohol at his residence on Hidden Circle before York and another man with distinctive tattoos attempted to have sex with the girl.

When her boyfriend confronted them, the men assaulted the teens and followed them to their residence but were confronted by parents, according to a police affidavit.

According to officer Dylan Rider’s sworn statement, the man with the tattoos was York’s brother, Tashiel Johnson, 21, of Jay. He was arrested on charges of assault and failure to give correct name, address or date of birth. Johnson is being held as a fugitive from justice out of Worcester, Massachusetts. He is being held without bail on the fugitive from justice charge and $1,500 cash bail on Thursday’s charges.

York was charged with assault, violating condition of release, hindering apprehension or prosecution and furnishing a place for minors to consume or possess alcohol, Fournier said.

York was being held on $1,000 cash bail or $10,000 real estate surety at the Franklin County Detention Center in Farmington.

The men’s mother, Clover York, 51, of Jay who also lives at the Hidden Circle residence, was arrested on misdemeanor charges of hindering apprehension or prosecution, furnishing a place for minors to consume or possess liquor and unlawful possession of a scheduled drug, suboxone, Fournier said.

She was released on $400 cash bail Thursday.

The two 17-year-olds were each issued a summons on a civil violation of  consumption of alcohol by a minor, Fournier said. The violations will be handled through the juvenile system.

Johnson was arrested by Massachusetts police in May 2016 on charges of armed robbery, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (a bat) and being a minor in possession of alcohol, according to the Telegram & Gazette, a newspaper in Worcester, Massachusetts.

A Massachusetts court deemed Johnson dangerous in 2016  in the case of a man being struck in the head several times with a bat and robbed of his cellphone and cash when he was confronted by a group of males, according to the newspaper.

York, who previously lived in Winthrop, was arrested in February and accused of dealing heroin. State police reported seizing 9.5 grams of it in a vehicle he was in, according to the Kennebec Journal.
