LIVERMORE FALLS — One person died in a fire Tuesday night and a child was injured after jumping from the third story of a home on Main Street, according to the State Fire Marshal’s Office.
The single-family home was engulfed in flames when firefighters were called to the house shortly after 7 p.m.
Two preteens living in the home escaped the flames by jumping from a second story. One of the children fell to the ground and was hospitalized, according to a release from Stephen McCausland, spokesman for the Maine Department of Public Safety.
A team of fire marshal investigators were working with Livermore Falls firefighters to determine the cause of the fire.
Warren Forbes said he was going to get milk and bread when he came across the bridge from Livermore into Livermore Falls and saw smoke at a house across from Motor Supply. He said the building began burning quickly.
Several fire departments, police and a NorthStar EMS ambulance crew were there.
Further details are expected to be released Wednesday morning.
