NORWAY — The Cancer Resource Center of Western Maine has announced its July schedule. A special event for July is the Garden Tour at the Bob and Mary Van Nest Farm.
Later in the month, from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, July 21, the center will also offer a weekly Kayaking Wellness Program on Norway Lake. Participants will meet at the boat launch to explore Norway Lake and should bring their own life jackets, kayaks, paddleboards or canoes.
The Cancer Resource Center of Western Maine is located at 199 Main St. in the Stephens Memorial Hospital Specialty Clinic building. It offers a variety of programs and comfort items free to anyone impacted by cancer.
Garden Tour: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, July 14, at the Bob and Mary Van Nest Farm, 265 Old Stage Road. The Van Nests will give tours of the gardens.
Yoga Warriors: 3 to 4 p.m. Wednesday, July 18 at Posabilities, 15 Tannery St. This free, gentle yoga class will support healthy living for individuals facing the challenges of cancer through gentle movement and breath, supportive restorative yoga postures, and guided meditation and relaxation. Preregistration is encouraged. Register by calling 207-890-0329 or by arriving 15 minutes early the day of class.
Banding Together to Restore: 10 to 11 a.m. Mondays, July 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30, at Richard Bader Physical Therapy, 176 Main St. The program, led by Lori Britting, is focused on regaining motion and strength through guided instruction using stretching bands. Each participant will be encouraged to work within his or her abilities that will safely gain their desired goals. Getting back energy and the ability to move easier, carry out daily tasks and enjoy life are part of this program. Preregistration is encouraged. Yoga for Wellness: 8 to 9 a.m. Fridays, July 6, 13, 20 and 27, at the center. The class will include breathing, movement and relaxing meditation while seated or standing. Check the website for more information.
Self Reiki: 1:30 to 3 p.m. Tuesday, July 24, at the center. Participants should note that this is a new day and time. Charlotte LaBelle of Teresia Reiki will demonstrate how Reiki helps to alleviate stress and promote relaxation.
Crafts with Karen: 4 p.m. Tuesdays , July 10, 17, 24 and 31. Projects will be offered to participants or they may bring in something they are working on. Participants are welcome to bring their supper.
