DEAR SUN SPOTS: I received an Outback Steakhouse gift card for Christmas but they have all been closed in Maine. Can you please tell me who I could call or write to about this? I’d greatly appreciate it.

You’ve helped me before and I’m grateful for all your valuable information.

–No Name, Jay

ANSWER: How frustrating! Your gift card is eligible to use at other Bloomin’ Brands restaurants including Carrabba’s Italian Grill, Bonefish Grill, Roy’s, and Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar.

If you want to take a little road trip, Outback Steakhouse is open in Bedford, New Hampshire. There are several of the restaurants in Massachusetts including locations in Lowell, Seekonk, Springfield, and Somerville.

In tiny print at the bottom of your gift card, there may be a toll-free number to call. If not, try writing to: Bloomin’ Brands, Inc., 2202 N. West Shore Blvd., Tampa, Florida 33607. Their phone number is 813-282-1225.

ANSWER: I’m sure someone will scoop up this treasure trove!

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Regarding the June 11th Sun Spots, our class of 1974 was indeed the first to graduate from the school, but we actually graduated from Lewiston Comprehensive High School, as it was named then. When the new school opened, it wasn’t completed yet. The downstairs area under the cafeteria was the designated student smoking area, and the area where the new Connors School is being built (on what were recently the athletic fields) was a parking lot. Our ball games were still held at the LAP. There were only three grades at the time – sophomore through senior, and the school was packed. We had 500 or more in our graduating class. Dr. Edwin Haas was our principal.
