NAPLES, Florida — Former Rumford resident Albert Beliveau recently achieved a major milestone as a volunteer with the Conservancy of Southwest Florida, donating more than 11,000 hours to the environmental nonprofit organization based in Naples.
Beliveau has been a volunteer boat caption; coordinator and guide for swamp, bay, beach and nature tours; and served on the facility committee and policy committee. He is also a leader within the Conservancy’s 600-member volunteer association.
In 1963, Beliveau came to Rumford to start a family and a law practice. He served as Rumford’s city attorney for 28 years and was a public administrator, probate judge and committee member for multiple legal associations. Upon moving to Florida, he continued working with the court system as a certified civil court mediator and was a member of the American Civil Liberties Union and Southern Poverty Law Center.
