RANGELEY — The Maine Conservation Corps dedicated a day of service to Rangeley Lake Heritage Trust’s Greenvale Cove on Rangeley Lake.
The Trust’s staff and MCC members were joined by volunteers on June 6 to establish public water access trails and picnicking sites on the 15-acre parcel.
The sandy bottom in the shallow cove is well-known locally. Each summer boaters anchor and raft up for an afternoon.
In early 2017, the Trust was bestowed the Greenvale parcel by the Geller Family.
Historically Greenvale was a landing for steamboats, a place where visitors crossed paths. In keeping in that spirit, the Trust is raising funds to provide a public dock, an outhouse and picnic sites, and re-establishing the trails that lead from South Shore Drive to the water access area.
