LEWISTON — The next La Rencontre at the Gendron Franco Center will feature local performing artists, Lionel Meservier, and sisters, Debra St. Pierre Robitaille and Melissa St. Pierre Noel. La Rencontre is scheduled for Thursday, July 12, starting at 11:25 a.m.
The cost of the meal and the programs is $12 per person. The doors and the bar open at 10 a.m. Guests may contact the Center office for reservations at 207-783-1585. E-mail reservations may be sent to boxoffice@francocenter.org.
La Rencontre, which translates to “the gathering,” is a multi-language event and not restricted to French-speakers or even those of Franco descent. All are welcome to attend this monthly meal and event. The meal is meatloaf.
After the meal, Nel Meservier and the St. Pierre sisters will perform. Meservier, best known as an original member of C’est Si Bonne and the founder and leader of Just Us Entertainers has been entertaining audiences around Maine and beyond for more than 60 years.
Robitaille joined Just Us in 2000 and sang with them until the group disbanded in 2017. She still enjoys performing. Noel joined Just Us in 1998, and her favorite annual event was performing for veteran’s tribute shows. In 2014, she became the lead vocalist in a ‘70s and ‘80s rock band Tattooed Lies. She has also appeared in several Community Little Theatre productions.
After the program, several raffle prizes will be drawn.
The Gendron Franco Center is handicapped-accessible and is located on the corner of Cedar and Oxford Streets in the “Little Canada” section of Lewiston, just across the Bernard Lown Peace Bridge from New Auburn.
