Teams of individuals, families and businesses participated in Bowl for Kids’ Sake in Lewiston, Wilton and Paris this spring.
It’s the largest annual fundraiser for Big Brothers Big Sisters, with proceeds directly supporting one-to-one mentoring programs for children in mid-Maine facing adversity.
The fundraiser is among four regional Bowl for Kids’ Sake events in the Kennebec Valley and the mid-coast. A final event is slated for early November in Penobscot County.
Gwendolyn Hudson, executive director of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Mid-Maine, said the fundraiser is critical in the agency’s work to create and support strong and enduring relationships between kids facing adversity and their teen and adult mentors. By partnering with parents, volunteers and organizations, children in the program have higher aspirations, greater confidence, develop better relationships, avoid risky behaviors and achieve educational success.
