Society hearing about sanatorium
OXFORD — Ben Conant will present “History of the Hebron Sanatorium” to the Oxford Historical Society at its next meeting.
The monthly meeting will be 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 25, at 73 Pleasant St. followed at 6:30 p.m. by the presentation.
Conant is the historian and curator for the Paris Cape Historical Society.
The public is welcome, and light refreshments will be served. New members may join the Society for a $5 annual fee.
The Society is also seeking donations of gently used, clean items for its annual yard sale set for Aug. 18. Large appliances, televisions and computers will not be accepted.
Marcia and Louis Brown Scholarship
LIVERMORE FALLS — Jay, Livermore Falls and Spruce Mountain High School graduates who are enrolled in two- or four-year colleges or vocational programs are invited to apply for one of two $1,000 scholarships offered by the late Marcia and Louis Brown.
College students must have successfully completed at least one semester of college or vocational school to be eligible to apply.
The deadline for applications is Aug. 10. Applications may be picked up at the RSU 73 Central Office at 9 Cedar St. Contact the RSU No. 73 Central Office at 207-897-6722 for additional information.
Kite-flying group planning fly
NORWAY — Color the Sky, Kite Fly!, a kite-flying group, will hold monthly outings on selected weekends in Norway and surrounding towns, dates to depend on the wind and weather. Time of kite-flying sessions will be from 1 to 4 p.m., meeting at area locations. The outings are free and open to all.
