NEW SHARON — A local man is accused of threatening his landlords with a knife outside a residence on Bean’s Corner Road after being served with an eviction notice Wednesday, according to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office.

Darryl Nelson, 42, was arrested on a felony charge of criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon, according to Chief Deputy Steven Lowell.

Deputies responded about 1 p.m. to a report of a man confronting landlords with a knife, Lowell’s news release said. The landlords left when the knife was displayed and met with deputies down the road.

“The disagreement between all parties never reached the point of physical altercation,” Lowell wrote.

Nelson was released from the Franklin County Detention Center in Farmington on $500 cash bail Wednesday. He is not to have contact with the landlords and is scheduled to appear Aug. 28 in a Farmington court.

A conviction for criminal threatening is punishable by up to five years in prison and up to a $5,000 fine.

Deputies Keith Madore, Brad Scovil, Lowell and Lt. David Rackliffe responded.
