AUBURN — Roger P. Roberge, 85, a resident of Schooner Estates in Auburn, passed away peacefully Wednesday, July 25, with his loving family by his side.
He was born in Sanford, May 13, 1933, the son of Philodore and Florence (Jagger) Roberge.
Roger was a 1951 graduate of South Portland High School and then served two years in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He continued his education, graduating from Portland Junior College.
He married the love of his life, the former Margaret (Peggy) Durdan, in 1955. Together they celebrated 63 years of marriage on June 18.
Roger was employed 41 years at Coca-Cola Bottling in South Portland, Augusta and Lewiston until his retirement.
His hobbies included woodworking as a finish carpenter and his model trains. He loved his family and enjoyed supporting his children and grandchildren at their sporting events. Roger was an avid New England Patriots fan, and also enjoyed his fireside chats with fellow residents at Schooner Estates.
Survivors include his wife, Peggy, of Auburn; two sons, Stephen and wife, Louise Roberge, of Monmouth and Thomas and wife, Lynn Roberge, of Gray; two daughters, Janis Rollins and fiancé, Robert Kenney, of Bangor and Barbara Moad and husband, Mark, of Poland; two brothers, Richard and wife, Linda Roberge, of South Portland and Peter and wife, Marilyn Roberge, of Windham. Also surviving are six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
