LANCASTER, N.H. — Maurice R. Ouellette, 92, of Milan, N.H., passed away Thursday July 26, at the Weeks Medical Center in Lancaster, N.H. He was born in Berlin, N.H. on March 17, 1926, the son of Ernest and Ann Marie (Hamel) Ouellette and worked for the AMC in his younger years on Mt. Madison. He entered the U..S Navy when he was 17 and served during World War II. He served with the Navy for 22 years, retiring when he was 39, and moved back to Berlin. He married the love of his life, Sylvia Labbe, and they later purchased and operated Brown Owl Camps in Wentworth Location, N.H., from 1967-1972. They then semi-retired to Wentworth Location and wintered in Titusville, Fla. He had also been the caretaker of Pine Point on Umbagog Lake. Maurice was a member of the White Mountain Post #2520 VFW and Good Shepherd Parish.
Family includes his daughter, Georgette Starnes, and husband, Dale, of Jay; his son, Paul Ouellette, and wife, Gisele, of Milan, N.H.; grandchildren Joshua Starnes and wife, Cari, Kristy Starnes and partner, Kris Matchett, Christopher Ouellette and fiancée Bianca Clauss and Nicole Ouellette; seven great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his wife, Sylvia (Labbe) Ouellette.
