LEWISTON — Sandra Lee Simone Monier, 72, of Randolph, passed away at Marshwood Center in Lewiston on Sunday, July 29, from complications of a stroke in 2016.

She was born in Lewiston on Nov. 15, 1945 and was adopted by her loving parents, Cyrille Joseph Perreault and Marie Florilda Bourgoin-Perreault while she was still a baby. She was aware of her adoption and was very close to her eight biological brothers and sisters.

She married her loving and devoted husband, Paul R. Monier, on Dec. 16, 1972, in Lewiston. They built and made their home together in Greene, where family and friends were always welcome. She went through the Lewiston school system and at the age of 42, attended Central Maine Community College where she obtained her LPN Certificate in 1990 at the age of 44. She was a member of New Life Stevens Mills Church in Auburn, where she attended church faithfully since its opening in 2000, and was a cherished member of the church’s worship team.

Sandy played guitar and loved to sing. She loved cooking, music, photography and playing cards with her grandchildren.

Sandy was predeceased by her husband, Paul, who suffered from Alzheimer’s disease, in November 2017, and a brother, Michael Couture.

She is survived by a brother, Richard Caron and wife Arline; sister, Pauline St. Jean and husband Jacques; brother, Ronald Couture; sister, Diane Keene and husband David; sister, Dolores Pierce; sister, Louise Fournier and husband Maurice; sister, Jeannette Wright; sister, Carlene Carbone and brother, Jerry Thompson, both of Connecticut; sister Linda Henriksen of West Virginia.

Together, Paul and Sandy had three children, daughter, Debra Stevens and husband John; son, Todd Monier; daughter, Cindy Griffin and husband Peter.

They had seven grandchildren, Candace, Cory, Brittney, Zachary, Maxwell, Alecia and Adam, and two great-grandchildren, Brianna & Olivia. They also had many loving cousins, nieces and nephews.
