RUMFORD — Juno award winner David Myles came to 49 Franklin last year and was so well-received he’s coming back this summer at 7 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 12.
Rock and roll’s diverse, electrifying roots dig deep into Myles’ 10th album, “Real Love.” Hear them in the old-school Johnny Cash shuffle and lightning-in-a-bottle twang of “Night And Day.” They pull listeners by the hand and dance slowly to the swingy drums and ‘50s-era Roy Orbison croon of “Easy.” With the rousing orchestral thrill of “Night After Night,” they sprawl out into simmering soul as Myles seethes at a lover who’s been running around with another. Over the 13 tracks of “Real Love,” written as razor-sharp as Myles’ suits, those roots grow into a spectacular family tree of American musical tradition — with all its blood, sweat and tears — that’s as endlessly entertaining as it is riveting.
All this new music injected with rhythm and groove will certainly be shaking up Myles’ already enthralling live performances. Even more toe-tapping, more head-nodding and yes, more hip-swiveling, is coming to the David Myles Road Show with “Real Love” added to the band’s repertoire. “Real Love” is an absorbing rejuvenation of rock and roll’s dramatic power.
Tickets are $20 at the door and special-priced advance tickets are $15, available in downtown Rumford at Bartash’s and All That Jazz, and also online at www.49franklin.com. Doors open at 6 p.m. for social, seating cash-only pub menu and cash bar. Show starts at 7.
