SABATTUS — Michelle Carey Hamel, 43, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, Aug. 1.

Michelle was a gentle soul with a kind and loving heart. She always tried to find the good in people and loved everyone she met.

She made her home in Sabattus with her significant other of 14 years, Richard Dean, where they lived a simple life.

Michelle, also known as “Shell,” was the youngest daughter of Alice McKenney and Richard Carey, and was their pride and joy when she arrived on Sept. 20, 1974.

She also leaves behind her parents, her mom, Alice, and stepfather, Richard McKenney, of Augusta, her father, Richard Carey, and his significant other, Linda Fluker, of Sabattus; two sisters, Lisa Sparrow and significant other, Raymond Holman, of Augusta and Lori and husband, Scott Mairs, of Oakland; a brother, John, and significant other, Mary Haskell, of Portland; and nieces and nephews.

Taken from us too young, but will remain forever in our hearts.
