LEWISTON — The Gypsy Lew Theater and Lewiston Public Library present William Shakespeare’s “Much Ado About Nothing” at 7 p.m. Aug. 23-26, in Dufresne Plaza, 72 Lisbon St.
When soldiers return from a victorious battle, with all matters of war resolved, it seems there is little to do but party, find love and meddle in friends’ affairs. This comedy centers around two couples: one, the young and sweet Claudio and Hero, and the other, the reluctant and prideful Beatrice and Benedick, who are caught in a “merry war…of wits.” Our story plays out in the setting of post-WWII Hawaii. The play runs about 80 minutes.
This is a free outdoor performance. Bring blankets and chairs and grab a spot to watch the show. There will be some chairs provided. In the event of rain, performances will be in Callahan Hall in the library.
Everyone should be able to enjoy community arts events, which is why the event is free. Donations will be graciously accepted and will go to the artists and to support bringing more events like this in the future.
