RUMFORD — A night of stand-up comedy will be held at 49 Franklin’s Mystic Theater on Friday, Aug. 31. Many guests started doing open mic comedy several years ago and have improved each time they attend and perform. Some who may have only shared their sense of humor with family, friends and co-workers have had the opportunity to share it with a room full of people.

Scot Grassette, 49 Franklin owner and host, says, “This is really a great event, Cindy and I live here, and we look at it as inviting people into the Mystic Theater is like inviting them into our living room. We have some pretty funny people here in town, we bring them in, along with a room full of people and have a bunch of laughs!”

The slate is looking pretty full but there is still room for a couple more. Signed up so far are Zac Calden, Greg Adley, Julie Byron, Marc Belanger and Hollie Vitale. Contact Grassette at grassette@gwi.net if interested in performing.

Doors open at 6 p.m. for socializing and seating and there will be a cash bar and cash-only pub menu available. At 6:30 Grassette will host trivia with fun and prizes There is no cover, adult content is expected and the main event starts at 8 p.m.

Greg Adley and Blane Drapeau pull some pre-show antics at the last Open Mic Stand-up Comedy Show at 49 Franklin’s Mystic Theater. The next open mic comedy night is Aug. 31.
