LIVERMORE FALLS — Regional School Unit 73 directors voted Thursday night to hire Todd LeRoy as the district’s new superintendent, succeeding Kenneth Healey.
Shannon McDaniel of Livermore, Sara Hughes of Livermore and Doug DiPasquale of Jay did not vote. The other board members, including student representatives Orion Schwab and Scott Jackson, approved the hire.
Board Chairman Denise Rodzen of Livermore Falls and Robert Staples of Jay were absent.
LeRoy and his wife, Natalie, were at the meeting. He said he most recently was the superintendent in Regional School Unit 50, a combination of the former SAD 25 (Katahdin area) and CSD 9 (southern Aroostook County) school districts.
Before that, LeRoy was the superintendent in RSU 59/MSAD 59 in Madison. He has 14 years of experience, not all in Maine.
The couple live in Madison.
“It is so important that we get off to a really good start,” LeRoy said during a break in the meeting. “The morale of the staff is mirrored in the students.
“I want to strengthen communication at all levels. There are fewer issues when people know in advance.”
LeRoy said he would be in the office Friday morning.
