LISBON — Georgette M. Croteau, 88, of Lisbon passed away Sunday, Aug. 26, at the Lamp Memory Care Center with her family by her side.
She was born in Lewiston on Jan. 23, 1930, the daughter of George and Alice Janelle. Georgette grew up and attended schools in the Lewiston area. She married Roger L. Croteau on March 22, 1969.
Georgette worked at Knapp Shoe Shop for many years. Her dexterity and attention to detail led her to a position with Maine Electronics, where she excelled and eventually retired. She was involved with many social clubs in her youth.
As life progressed, she was drawn to service at Holy Trinity Catholic Church where she led and participated in several ministries. Georgette and Roger hosted the Holy Trinity prayer group in their home for many years as well. Anyone who knew Georgette knew how much she loved children. Children were drawn to her, making her a beloved “matante” to many outside of the family. She is loved and will be greatly missed.
Georgette is survived by her sisters, Florence Fazekas of Lewiston, Cecile Fortin, of Tennessee; stepdaughter, Tina Grigsby, and husband Jim; and grandchildren Caila and Ryan of Vero Beach, Fla.; goddaughter, niece and caregiver, Pauline Fazekas, of Lisbon; as well as many cherished nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by her husband, Roger; brother, Edmund; and sister, Irene.
You are invited to share your thoughts condolences and fond memories with her family through her guest book at www.crosmanfuneralhome.com.
