LEWISTON — Daniel “Danny” Joseph Woodhead passed away peacefully Thursday, Aug. 23, at Montello Manor, where he had been a resident for many years.

He was born April 27, 1940, in Lewiston, the son of Margaret E. Woodhead and Edward Francis Woodhead. Danny attended local schools and graduated from Lewiston High School.

He worked for many years at hotels along the East Coast, from Florida to the Mount Washington Resort. Danny loved the racehorses and watching the Red Sox and Patriots play, especially when the football player Daniel Woodhead was on the Patriots team.

He was predeceased by his parents; and brothers Edward, Francis, Howard, Richard and Lawrence; and by sisters Lorraine, Evelyn, Loretta, Leona, Mary Anne and Nancy.

He is survived by his two daughters: Arline Palmer and her husband, Richard Palmer, of Auburn, and Beverly Casper and her husband, William Casper, of Gaffney, S.C.; and son, Daniel E. Woodhead, of Gaffney, S.C.; grandchildren Nathan Woodhead, Michael Robbins, Ceara Robbins, Benjamin Robbins and Brandon Casper; great-grandchildren Carleigh Parker and Kyliee Robbins; sisters Marilyn of New Britain, Conn., and Rosalie and her husband, Harvey Lovelace, of Lynn Haven, Fla.; and by brother, William, and his wife, Ann, of Auburn; and many nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 7, at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Mt. Hope Avenue, Lewiston.
