YARMOUTH — Sophomore quarterback Wyatt Hathaway was prolific on offense, leading Leavitt to a 46-8 triumph over Yarmouth in football action Friday evening.
Hathaway went 7-for-17, throwing for 161 yards and three touchdowns for the Hornets (2-0). He also accounted for six carries for 101 yards and a touchdown. Cole Morin caught for two touchdowns, and Oren Shaw chipped in with one.
Henry Venden spoiled the shutout with a late game four-yard run, and a two-point conversion for the Clippers (0-2) in the losing effort.
Thornton 47, Lewiston 7
SACO — Anthony Bracamonte had a 39-yard touchdown run and 22-yard touchdown catch from Kobe Gaudette as the Golden Trojans (2-0) scored 27 unanswered points in the second quarter to pull away from the Blue Devils (0-2) in a 47-7 Class A football victory Friday.
Gaudette also had a first-quarter touchdown pass to Athas Gikas to open the scoring.
Eli Arsenault added a 42-yard interception return for the Trojans.
Field hockey
Winthrop 9, Boothbay 1
WINTHROP — Jada Francis had a hat trick to lead the host Ramblers to a MVC field hockey win over Boothbay on Friday.
Moriah Hajduk and Maddie Perkins each added two goals for Winthrop (4-0-0), and Kerrigan Anuszewski and Layne Audet had one apiece. Ava Agri and Alicia Bridges combined to make two saves.
Courtney Meader scored the goal for Boothbay (1-3-0), while Maddy Barte stopped 10 shots.
Spruce Mountain 8, Hall-Dale 0
FARMINGDALE — Aurianna Armandi scored four goals to lead the Phoenix to a field hockey win over the Bulldogs on Friday.
Emily Castonguay had a goal and two assists, while Isabelle Castonguay, Erin McPherson and Emily White each added one for Spruce Mountain (4-0).
Mia Rollins made 17 saves for Hall-Dale (0-3).
Dirigo 7, Telstar 0
DIXFIELD — Sophia Jacques scored three goals as Dirigo beat Telstar 7-0 in field hockey action Friday.
Kailey Hackett scored twice, and Alexa Varnum and Page Lueders added one goal apiece for the Cougars.
Telstar goalie Perry Morton made eight saves.
Oak Hill 6, Lisbon 0
LISBON — Oak Hill pulled off a 6-0 win over Lisbon in the team’s high school field hockey matchup Friday.
Adele Surrette scored three of Oak Hill’s six goals, while Desiree Dumais had two. Zoe Buteau contributed one goal and two assists.
Becky Budesheim made six saves in net for Lisbon.
Boys’ soccer
Lewiston 2, Brunswick 0
LEWISTON — Junior forward Bilal Hersi planted a goal in each half to lead Lewiston to a 2-0 victory over Brunswick in boys’ soccer action Friday.
The first Blue Devil (2-0-1) goal came on a long serve from Dido Lumu, after which Hersi maneuvered from left to right, and ripped a hard shot over the goalies’ head.
Goalie Jack McDiarmid made 12 saves for the Dragons (0-2-1), while Lumu stopped five to earn the win in net for Lewiston.
Mt. Abram 4, Lisbon 0
LISBON — Mt. Abram defeated Lisbon 4-0 Friday to improve to 2-0 in the young boys’ soccer season.
Jon Jordan opened the scoring when he took a cross from Evan Allen and beat Lisbon goalkeeper Levi Levesque for a 1-0 lead after the 18-minute mark. Oskar Martinez scored on a rebound four minutes later to increase the advantage to 2-0.
In the second half, Kenyon Pillsbury scored on a Denny Marble cross to make it 3-0. Then, Hunter Durland scored his first varsity goal late in the second half to end the scoring.
Lisbon goalkeepers Levesque and Sean Moore combined to make 16 saves on 20 shots. Jack Deming and Ian Allen combined to make two saves on two shots in the goal for Mt Abram.
Buckfield 5, Valley 0
BUCKFIELD — Dylan Harvey scored on a header off a Noah Wiley throw-in to start Buckfield’s 5-0 rout of Valley in boys’ soccer action Friday.
Harvey scored again in the second off another Wiley assist, and Victor Verrill added two more goals for Buckfield.
Keegan Farnum stopped 24 shots in goal for Valley.
Oak Hill 4, Wiscasset 0
WISCASSET — Oak Hill shut down Wiscasset in boy’s soccer Friday.
Gage Thompson scored two unassisted goals to lead Oak Hill. Riley Worth and Nico Soucy each scored on a penalty kick.
Girls’ soccer
Messalonskee 5, Mt. Blue 0
FARMINGTON — Anika Elias scored three goals and had two assists to lead the Messalonskee girls’ soccer team to a 5-0 win over Mt. Blue on Friday.
Elena Guarino and Lily Wilkie each tallied goals for the Eagles (2-1-0). Hannah DelGiudice had four saves in the shutout.
Mackenzie Libby had 16 saves for the Cougars (0-3-0).
Mt. Ararat 2, Edward Little 1
AUBURN — Eliza Libbey found the back of the net in the second half to lift Mt. Ararat to a 2-1 victory over Edward Little in girls’ soccer action Friday.
The game was scoreless at the half. The Eagles’ (3-0) other goal came on an own goal by Edward Little.
Ella Boucher notched the lone Red Eddies (0-2-1) goal.
Goalie Allie Annear made eight saves for Edward Little, while Abby Sirois prevented four to earn the win in net for Mt. Ararat.
Buckfield 7, Valley 0
BUCKFIELD — The Bucks’ found the net enough for a 7-0 girls’ soccer win over Valley on Friday.
Hannah Shields scored three of the seven goals and had two assists for Buckfield. Molly Bourget added two goals and one assist.
Valley goaltender Jada Ward stayed solid in net throughout the game, making 24 saves.
