SOUTH PARIS — Sherry (Stevens) Keaten, 62, passed away peacefully at home Friday, Sept. 7, after a long illness. She was born in Farmington on Dec. 11, 1955, the daughter of Frank M. And Audrey (Huff) Stevens. Sherry was raised in Strong and graduated from Mt. Abram High School, Class of 1974. She went on to complete her education at the Skowhegan Business School, before marrying Darian Keaten in 1975. They made their home in Skowhegan for 22 years before they relocated to South Paris for Darian’s work. For a time, Sherry worked at Kennebec Equipment Rental in Fairfield, and later at Community Concepts in South Paris.
Calling Sherry a voracious reader is an understatement. She thoroughly enjoyed reading when she was not doting on her three grandchildren. Being Nana was the highlight of her life. She never missed an opportunity to spend time with the children, spoil them or even just given them rides to their practices. Sherry and Darian also enjoyed traveling together, whether it was an anniversary trip to Las Vegas or just simple day trips around Maine.
She was predeceased by her parents and her father-in-law, Wilder Keaten.
Sherry is survived by her husband of 43 years, Darian Keaten; daughter, Allison Skinner, and her companion, Kyle Kilgore; grandchildren Braeden Skinner, Kerrigan Skinner and Kyler Kilgore; mother-in-law, Evelyn Keaten, all of South Paris; brother, Lynn Stevens and his wife, Evelyn, of Strong; sister, Darcy Stevens, of Mattapoisett, Mass.; and two nephews: Matt and Ryan Stevens of Strong.
A graveside services will be at 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 14, at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Dexter Road., Cambridge, with the Rev. Mark Tanner officiating.
