AUBURN — The Androscoggin Historical Society will host an educational program with mystery novelist William D. Andrews at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 25.
His talk, titled “Stealing History,” will be held at the society’s museum on the third floor of the County Building.
Andrews has published three mysteries “Stealing History” (2006), “Breaking Ground” (2011), and “Mapping Murder” (2017). He will talk about historical societies as the sites of potential crimes, including thefts of valuable artifacts.
Andrews moved to Maine in 1989 to become president of Westbrook College. The college’s merger with the University of New England freed him to pursue his long-held ambition to write.
He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from the University of Pittsburgh, a doctoral degree in American Civilization from the University of Pennsylvania, and an master’s degree in business administration from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
He is the past president of the board of trustees of the Bethel Historical Society and a former director of the Mahoosuc Land Trust. He and his wife split their time between their home in Newry and condo in Portland. When he isn’t writing, he skis, snowshoes, bikes, boats, cooks and spends as much time as possible with his 2-year-old granddaughter.
Admission for this program is free, although donations are gratefully accepted.
