DEAR SUN SPOTS: On Friday, Oct. 12, the Phillips Community of Christian Women will again cook up their annual chicken supper, to be held from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at the Phillips Elementary School. The traditional menu continues with roast chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, stuffing, cranberry sauce, peas, squash, rolls, assorted pies, a beverage of choice, including coffee, tea, milk, or apple juice, all for $8 for adults and $5 for children 12 and younger.

We can’t make this happen without our community volunteers, so if anyone wants to cook or lend a hand, call Barb Gardiner at 207-684-3394.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Is there anyone in the central Maine area who organizes and runs yard sales? We would like to have one, but don’t think we could handle it ourselves. Thank you for all the information you share with us.

—Pat, no town

ANSWER: It would be great to have more information, Pat. Are you asking because you want to hold the yard sale to raise funds for a non-profit organization or are you looking for someone to help you organize your personal possessions and sell them for yourselves?

There are professionals who address clutter, home clean-outs, etc. at all different levels. Most of them are based in Portland, but some service our readership area.

Also, if you are a senior and are interested in a personal yard sale, you can contact SeniorsPlus in Lewiston at 207-795-4010. They may have a listing for someone who can help.

Readers, I’m opening this question up for your assistance. Do you know of anyone who likes to run yard sales and has some time to help Pat?

DEAR SUN SPOTS: On Aug. 24, I fell at the Auburn Walmart and broke my hip. Not being able to get up, I was assisted by a Walmart employee who supported my back while a nurse named Nicole supported my leg and helped me stay calm while waiting a long time for the ambulance. I neglected to get their full names so I hope they read this. They were wonderful, caring people.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

—Peg, Lisbon Falls
