Financial Peace University classes 

PARIS — The Paris Public Library and Moss Brook Church are presenting a nine-week class of Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University at the Deering Memorial Community Center from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursdays, beginning Oct. 4. The classes, skipping Thanksgiving (Nov. 22), will teach Dave Ramsey’s methods for reducing debt, becoming financially secure and preparing for retirement.

Do not purchase the materials when registering online; Moss Brook Church is providing them for all class members at the discounted cost of $50.

Honey Bee club meeting rescheduled

PARIS — Oxford Hills Honey Bee Club will not have the Oct. 13 meeting as the meeting falls on the same date as the MSBA annual meeting. They encourage all members to attend if possible. FMI: contact Richard McLaughlin at 207-370-2215 by Oct. 1.  Next meeting is Nov. 10.

Tissue drive in Wilton

WILTON — The Wilton Day Extension Homemakers are having a tissue drive for the two schools in Wilton during October and November.

They will have a donation box at the Wilton Town Office. 

Socrates Cafe to meet

CDL Class A Truck Driver Training

OXFORD HILLS — Oxford Hills/Nezinscot Adult Education announces the return of CDL Class A Truck Driver Training. Potential students need to have a CDL permit and be able to pass a DOT drug screen and physical. The program costs $4,100 and is scheduled to begin this fall. Snowmobile club meeting

NORWAY — The Norway Trackers Snowmobile Club will hold its next meeting Tuesday, Oct. 2, at the Norway Town Hall with a potluck dinner at 6:15 p.m. and meeting at 6:45. Anyone interested in snowmobiling is welcome to attend. They will be selling MSA Super Raffle tickets for a chance at winning one of over 50 prizes including a new snowmobile. Mexico cemetery notice

MEXICO — Farrington-Morton Cemetery Association requests all lights, arrangements, artificial plants, containers and any other decor be removed by Monday, Oct. 1. This is to make it possible for the Sexton to prepare and clean the cemetery for winter.

Texas hold ’em poker 

PARIS — The AMVETS monthly Texas hold ’em poker tournaments are held at from 5 p.m. to midnight on the first Friday of the month at the American Legion Hall.

The event is open to the public. The Auxiliary will have a food concession open from 5 p.m. until the end of second break. There will also be a 50/50 raffle. Buy-in is usually $50 with a license fee of $5 and an optional $5 High Hand.
