Q&A

1) What legislation do you support, if any, to address the state’s opiate crisis?
Being new to this, I would support any legislation that helps the state develop a place for addicts to go for recovery that offers resources and support to get clean.

2) What legislation do you support, if any, to address failures in the state’s child abuse prevention system?
Earlier this year the House voted to save a $2.2M child abuse prevention program that the LePage administration attempted to terminate. I would support any such program.

3) Should schools continue to push forward with proficiency-based diplomas? Why or why not?
I agree with the House and Senates decision in June to allow individual schools the option of choosing which path to follow for their students. I agree with allowing more of a local control.

4) Are you in favor of some type of universal health care for Maine residents? Why, or why not?
Yes! Our health should be our number one concern, especially for those who cannot take care of themselves, including our children, elder community and veterans.

5) Do you support Question 1 (the 3.8% tax to fund the home care program)? Why, or why not?
I do support finding a way to fund a home care program, however, I feel that 3.8 percent tax is on the high side when adding that to percentages already paid that could reach 10 percent or more for some.

6) Are you frustrated by the political sniping, exaggeration and even lies between the parties and their supporters that have threatened progress usually reached through respect and reasoned compromise? If so, what will you personally do to make the situation better?

Yes, so frustrated by the inability of our parties to talk and reach reasonable solutions to problems this state is facing.

7) Tell voters something about yourself that they don’t already know, and might surprise them.
Coolidge facts: I’m related to the 30th President of the U.S., my second car is a ’66 F-100 pick-up truck, and I’m deeply involved in community service as Mrs. Maine International 2018!
