AUGUSTA — The Augusta Police Department is investigating a robbery at the Bangor Street Subway on Tuesday afternoon after a robber made off with some cash.
Deputy Chief Kevin Lully said no one was injured in the robbery and the suspect made off with an “undisclosed amount of money.”
The robbery was reported at “approximately 3:30 p.m.” according to a release written by Lully.
“There were no (injuries) during the robbery,” he wrote. “The suspect fled the location with an undisclosed amount of money, in a dark colored SUV.”
A surveillance image of the suspected robber shows a white man wearing a grey sweatshirt with the hood up and glasses.
“This investigation is in its infancy stages, however we will update you as more leads are developed,” Lully wrote.
The release did not say whether or not the suspect brandished a weapon during the robbery.
The business was closed briefly while a police car was stationed outside around 5 p.m. on Tuesday. It opened back up shortly after.
A man who identified himself as the store’s manager declined to comment or give his name to the Kennebec Journal.
Lully said in the release that anyone with information on the robbery should contact the police department’s Criminal Investigation Division at 207-626-2370.
