Jacob Blanchard scored all four of Mountain Valley’s touchdowns in a 26-20 football win over Madison on Friday.
The Falcons (4-2) scored twice in the first quarter on a 25-yard run and a 58-yard run by Blanchard. They led 14-6 at the half.
Blanchard scored twice more on kickoff returns in the third and fourth quarters with 84-yard and 88-yard returns. Blanchard had the only point after with a two-yard rush on the first scoring drive.
The Bulldogs (3-3) kept pace with a two-yard run by Josh Savage in the first quarter, a five-yard run by Eric Wescott in the third quarter, and a 10-yard pass from Wescott to Jacob Meader in the third quarter.
Madison was successful only once with points after, scoring a two-yard rush from Savage after their third-quarter scoring drive.
Mountain Valley protected their thin six-point lead late in the fourth quarter with a fumble recovery on their own three-yard line.
Maranacook 28, Gray-NG 12
READFIELD — Hunter Glowa threw touchdown passes to Isac Philbrook and Dylan Burroughs as the Maranacook football team sank Gray-New Gloucester 28-12 at Gibson Field of Dreams on Friday night.
Dakota DeMott and Garit Laliberte rushed for touchdowns for Maranacook (4-2).
The Patriots fell to 0-6.
Field hockey
Dirigo 6, Telstar 0
BETHEL — Kailey Kelley put up three goals, two in the first half, and two assists to help Dirigo dominate Telstar offensively in a 6-0 win in girls’ field hockey action Friday. The Cougars outshot the Rebels 19-5.
Other goal scorers for Dirigo were Taylor Bryant, Grace Timberlake and Sophia Jacques, who also had an assist. Alivia Perreault contributed an assist for the Cougars.
Perry Morton remained tough in net for Telstar, making 17 saves.
Edward Little 2, Oceanside 0
AUBURN — Kiara Fournier scored the eventual game-winning goal with one second remaining in the first half as Edward Little won at home against Oceanside on Friday.
The Red Eddies (5-8) outshot the the Mariners (2-11) 6-3. Bella Coulombe added an insurance goal in the second half for Edward Little.
Goalie Alexa Barston made four saves for Oceanside, and Elise Syphers made three for Edward Little.
Oak Hill 6, Lisbon 2
WALES — Zoe Buteau and Adelle Surette each scored twice to pace the Raiders to the MVC field hockey win in Wales.
Desiree Dumais and Mikayla Cutt also scored for Oak Hill (9-5-0). Mackenzie Thibeault stopped five shots.
Mallory Fairbanks and Sidney Ford scored for Lisbon (5-8-0), and Becky Budeshem made 16 saves.
Boys’ soccer
Gray-New Gloucester 1, St. Dominic 1, tie
AUBURN — Andrew LaCerda scored with 3:26 remaining in regulation to pull Gray-New Gloucester (4-4-2) even in a draw with St. Dominic (5-4-3) at Auburn.
Jeremy Phelan opened the scoring the Saints in the 23rd minute.
Brannon Gilbert had 13 saves for the Patriots, while Matthew Gosselin stopped 15 shots for St. Dom’s (5-4-3).
Leavitt 2, Medomak Valley 1
WALDOBORO — Garrett Addison and Austin Taylor provided the scoring for Leavitt (3-4-4) in a win over Medomak Valley (5-4-2) at Waldoboro.
Ryan Creamer converted a penalty kick for the Panthers.
Aiden Starr had 10 saves for Medomak Valley, while Blaine Clark made nine for Leavitt.
Mt. Abram 5, Carrabec 0
NORTH ANSON — Tyson Hill scored twice to lead the Roadrunners to the MVC win in North Anson.
Hunter Bate, Jackson Masterson and Nate Luce added a goal apiece for Mt. Abram (10-1-0), while Jack Deming made two saves.
Brad Clark stopped 20 shots for Carrabec (0-10-0).
Winthrop 6, Spruce Mountain 1
JAY — Rowan Goebel-Bain scored five goals as the Winthrop boys’ soccer team defeated Spruce Mountain 6-1 on Friday.
Jared McLaughlin also scored for the Ramblers (8-3).
Owen Bryant scored the lone goal for the Phoenix (1-10). Garrett Smith had the assist.
Goalie Jake Smith saved seven shots for Winthrop, while Jacob Bryant stopped six for the Phoenix.
Girls’ soccer
Brunswick 5, Edward Little 0
AUBURN — Five players scored for the Dragons (10-0-1) as they cruised past the Eddies (1-7-2) in Auburn.
Marley Groat, Charlotte MacMillan, Isabella Banks, Alexis Guptil and Alex Bunker each scored for Brunswick. Aisley Sbell and Beth Labbe tended goal, combining for nine saves.
Kayleigh Leclerc finished with six saves for Edward Little.
Lake Region 3, Poland 0
POLAND — Neva Leavitt scored twice as Lake Region won at Poland.
The Lakers (4-5-2) led 1-0 at the half. Brooke Harriman rounded out the scoring for Lake Region.
Goalie Gabrielle Bolduc made eight saves for the Knights (3-8), and Lake Region’s Madi Rock made seven saves.
Women’s soccer
Unity 2, CMCC 1
UNITY — Jordan Baker booted the game-winning goal as Unity College overtook Central Maine Community College 2-1 in women’s soccer action Friday afternoon.
The Mustangs and Rams played even in the first half. Nicole Robitaille and Baker found the back of the cage in the second half to give Unity the edge.
Samantha Belardo converted a relay from Megan Duval for the only Mustang goal.
Goalie Sarah Cantwell made 13 saves for Unity, while Ali Sult and Skyler Henry combined for 12 saves in the losing effort.
