LEWISTON — The Center for Wisdom’s Women will hold a Women’s Empowerment and Self-Protection Workshop from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 24, at 97 Blake St.

The workshop will be led by Sensei James, a specialist in the traditional Japanese martial arts with more than 20 years of teaching experience. He is an internationally licensed instructor. His unique insight into mind/body unity and personal empowerment has developed from many years of cross cultural study. He has provided numerous women’s empowerment workshops in southern Maine.

Joining James are two senior student instructors, Margo and Lucy. Margo is a family doctor and osteopathic manipulative medicine specialist at Central Maine Medical Center. Lucy is a lead medical scientist in Southern Maine. They have been studying with James for many years and have assisted in many women’s classes over the years.

The Center for Wisdom’s Women is a weekday drop-in center for women between Pine and Ash streets behind Healy Terrace apartments. Limited parking is available on site with more nearby on the street and in the Park Street garage.
