LEWISTON — The Lewiston Senior Citizens announces its upcoming activities, including a Thanksgiving Buffet at The Green Ladle culinary center in Lewiston.
The group will host an evening of music by Rabbi Sruli Dresdner and his family from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 26, at the Lewiston Armory. They have performed all over the country at festivals, concert halls and schools. Doors will open at 6 p.m. Tickets are $10.
On Nov. 19, the annual Thanksgiving Buffet will be served at 11:30 a.m. at The Green Ladle at the Lewiston Regional Technical Center, 156 East Ave. Everyone is invited. Tickets are $15 and will be available at the Lewiston Armory, 65 Central Ave. Attendees may bring a nonperishable food for the annual Thanksgiving food drive the Lewiston Seniors Center office before Nov. 19.
An indoor walking group meets 9 a.m. to noon weekdays, and pickleball is held at 9 a.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
At the October meeting, Japhet Els, AARP outreach director of Maine, spoke on health and long-term care, retirement security, electric and broadband utilities and livable communities.
Lewiston Senior Citizens is planning the following trips:
• Dec. 7-9 — Christmas Tour at the White Mountain Hotel & Resort, including five meals, two Christmas shows, a comedy show and an Austrian sleigh ride at dusk.
• March 29 to April 8, 2019 — Memphis, Tennessee, includes 10 nights lodging, 18 meals, admission to Graceland, Sun Studio, guided tour of Memphis, free time on Beale Street and tour of the Kentucky Derby.
• June 23-29, 2019 — Kentucky and Ohio, includes six nights’ lodging, 10 meals, admission to The Ark Encounter in Williamstown, Kentucky, Creation Museum in Petersburg, Kentucky, Newport Aquarium in Newport, Kentucky, and Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Gardens in Ohio.
• July 30 to Aug. 11, 2019 — Alaska Discovery Land and Cruise, includes 13 days and 25 meals. Highlights are Fairbanks, Sternwheeler Discovery, Denali Dinner Theater, Denali National Park, Tundra Wilderness Tour Luxury Domed Rail, Anchorage, Hubbard Glacier, Skagway, Juneau, Ketchikan, Inside Passage and Seattle’s Sky View Observatory.
• Sept. 9-13, 2019 — Cape May, Philadelphia and Atlantic City, includes four nights’ lodging, eight meals, tour of Cape May, Cape May Point Lighthouse, Philadelphia, Atlantic City Boardwalk and a $45 casino bonus.
