AUBURN — For the fifth year in a row, Auburn Public Works will offer its Sand Buckets for Seniors program.
Public works employees will provide and deliver a free bucket of sand for senior citizens in the city. Recipients use this sand on their walkways, steps and driveways to make them safer during the snowy/icy winter months.
“This program is a way for the city to show our appreciation and respect for the seniors in our community, and to help keep them safe,” Public Works Director Dan Goyette said. “Our employees really enjoy connecting with the residents in this way.”
Auburn homeowners who are 65 and older and wish to receive a free bucket of sand should contact Auburn Public Works by Nov. 2 to enroll, 207-333-6670. Buckets will be delivered beginning Nov. 12.
