NORWAY — Members and friends of the Second Congregational Church, United Church of Christ, 205 Main St. will open the trunks of their cars for a community Trunk or Treat from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27. All are welcome.
Afterward, children and youth are invited to tour the spooky Halloween Barn adjacent to the church parking lot. High school youth will guide willing “tourists” through a frightful Halloween experience. Donations will be accepted for the tour and will benefit church youth activities. The barn will open at 6 p.m. and close at 8 p.m.
In the past few years, Trunk or Treats have become increasingly popular. Usually held on a different night than traditional Halloween, families can enjoy a fun, safe, weekend “trick or treat” experience, and be able to attend community events, such as Downtown Norway on Friday, Oct. 26, and “trick or treat” in their neighborhoods on Wednesday, Oct. 31. Trunk or Treat also provides a convenient, non-driving Halloween family experience for those who live in remote rural areas.
Trunks will be decorated and adults are encouraged to dress in costume. The trunks will be judged by the youth of the church. Decorations, creativity, costumes and types of treats will factor into the judging. Appropriate Halloween prizes will be awarded.
Anyone wishing to decorate their car and pass out Halloween treats should contact the church at 207-743-2290 as soon as possible and reserve a spot. There are a limited number of spaces in the church parking lot. Set up will begin at 4:30 p.m.
