Name: Timothy Turner
Party: Republican
Hometown: Buckfield
Hobbies: I’ve had a lot of fun and met interesting people in the Masonic fraternity and enjoy traveling all over the state and a little around the country to attend meetings.
Can you talk a little bit about your background? What do you do for work?
I have been a commissioner for four years. Before that, I spent six years in the Army Reserves as a military policeman and 25 years as a Maine state trooper. I also spent 15 years coaching youth football at Oxford Hills and four years coaching football in Buckfield.
I currently work as the deputy director of security at a major business in Oxford County.
My wife, Wendy, and I have been married for 34 years, and have four children, nine grandchildren and a great-grandson.
What are some things you have accomplished since being elected commissioner that you’re proud of?
The most important thing is how well we three commissioners work together. We come from different backgrounds and life experiences, but this is why it works so well. We have vigorous but courteous debates that bring unique views to the various issues we face and lead to innovative decisions.
What else would you like to accomplish, if re-elected?
In the next term, I hope to assist the Sheriff’s Department in rebuilding its public trust. Several issues, such as the airport, the new construction and unorganized territories are always challenges that I’ve found to be interesting and great fun to tackle.
Is there anything else you would like to share with voters?
I look forward to continuing my service to the people of Oxford County.
