Church holds kids’ Halloween event
AUBURN — The United Methodist Church is holding its annual Spook-tac-ular Trunk or Treat event this Saturday, Oct. 28, in the Church parking lot at 439 Park Ave.
Kids can dress up in their Halloween costumes.

Boutique, book sales at library
WAYNE — A half-price sale of boutique items and books will be held at the Williams House from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Nov. 3, at 14 Old Winthrop Road.
The event is part of Cary Memorial Library’s First Saturday at the Williams House. Snacks will be served. All proceeds benefit the Wayne Library Association.

Swingin’ Bears square dance Nov. 3
PARIS — The Swingin’ Bears Square Dance Club will hold a dance from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, at Oxford Hills Middle School, 100 Pine St.
Al Hipkins will call the squares and cue the rounds. Refreshments will be available, along with door prizes and a 50/50 drawing. Admission is $8 per dancer. Non-dancers are welcome at no charge.

Christmas card making benefit
PARIS — The annual Christmas card class to benefit the Maine Veterans Home will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, at the home at 477 High St. The $30 fee includes snacks, beverages and all materials. Half the fee goes directly to the veterans home activities fund.

Honey Bee Club holds workshop
PARIS — The Oxford Hills Honey Bee Club will hold a workshop/meeting at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, at the Oxford County Extension Center, 9 Olson Road.
The movie “Queen of the Sun” will be shown, followed by a Q&A about events in the winter. The meeting is open to the public.

Auburn Art Club to hold scholarship auction
AUBURN — The Auburn Art Club will meet at the Park Avenue Methodist Church on Park Avenue at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 5, for the third annual scholarship auction. Chairperson for the auction is Nancy Tebbetts, who will be assisted by Jan Sullivan, Mary Ann Norcross, Donna Sweetser, Donna Manson and Sharon Beaudoin.
Members are requested to bring their items for the auction by 1:30 p.m. for display.
Age-friendly community meeting to be held
AUBURN — An age-friendly community meeting will be held at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 6, at the Senior Community Center in Pettengill Park.
The purpose of the meeting is to brainstorm ideas for making Lewiston and Auburn more livable for people 50 years of age and older. This includes such topics as wheelchair charging stations, help with maintenance, etc. This is a new project for Auburn, but more citizen involvement is needed from the community.

AMVETS Post 777 to meet
PARIS — AMVETS Post 777, which serves the Oxford Hills, meets at 6:30 p.m. the first Thursday of the month at the American Legion Hall, 12 Church St.

Texas hold ’em poker
PARIS — The AMVETS monthly Texas hold ’em poker tournaments are held at from 5 p.m. to midnight on the first Friday of the month at the American Legion Hall, 12 Church St.
The event is open to the public. The Auxiliary will have a food concession open from 5 p.m. until the end of second break. There will also be a 50/50 raffle. Buy-in is usually $50 with a license fee of $5 and an optional $5 High Hand.
