TURNER — Wyatt Hathaway passed for 165 yards and four touchdowns in the first half as Leavitt crushed Lake Region 56-0 in a Class C South quarterfinal football game Friday evening.
Stephen Gray picked up the first touchdown on a 40-yard run for the Hornets. Leavitt led 21-0 after one and 42-0 at the half. Cole Morin had two touchdown receptions to close out the half.
Logan Girard had a 23-yard run for a touchdown, and Garrett Jabbusch an 18-yard run for a touchdown in the third quarter to complete Leavitt’s scoring.
Hathaway completed 11 of 14 passes.
Camden Jordan recorded eight tackles and two sacks in defensive action for Leavitt. Allen Peabody had an interception, while Jaden Banks earned a fumble recovery in the winning effort.
The top-seeded Hornets will host No. 4 Cape Elizabeth next week in the C South semifinals.
Wells 49, Poland 14
WELLS — Tyler Bridge ran for seven touchdowns as the top-seeded Warriors (9-0) rolled past the eighth-seeded Knights (3-6) in a Class D South quarterfinal Friday.
Bridge twice ran for TDs of 67 yards. He also scored from 48 yards midway through the third quarter to put Wells ahead 42-14.
The Warriors led 28-6 at halftime.
Wells hosts No. 5 Winthrop/Monmouth/Hall-Dale (5-4) in the semifinals next Friday.
Boys’ soccer
Waynflete 2, Mt. Abram 0
PORTLAND — Top-seeded Waynflete (13-0-3) scored twice late in the first half, and its defense did the rest in a Class C South boy’s soccer semifinal victory over No. 4 Mt. Abram (13-3) on Friday.
After several near-misses, the Flyers took the lead with 11:14 left in the first half. Oliver Burdick served in a corner kick that glanced off the head of Joey Ansel-Mullen and on to the head of Aidan Kieffer, who finished.
Less than six minutes later, with 5:25 remaining in the half, Ben Adey served up a pass into the box, where Askar Houssein was waiting to knock it home.
Waynflete’s back line, featuring Adey, Kieffer, Miles Lipton and Harry Millspaugh, held the Roadrunners without a shot.
The Flyers will play for the regional title Wednesday against No. 3 Maranacook, which beat Hall-Dale in penalty kicks.
Girls’ soccer
Traip 5, Mt. Abram 1
KITTERY — Sophia Santamaria scored twice, and Katie McPherson had a goal and an assist for the second-seeded Rangers (15-1) in a Class C South semifinal win over the sixth-seeded Roadrunners (11-5-1) on Friday.
Traip built a 3-0 lead in the first half on goals by Bella Woollacott, McPherson and Santamaria, who converted a free kick from about 30 yards.
Jade Davis put Mt. Abram on the board late in the first half. McPherson set up a goal by Sidney Auclair early in the second half, and Santamaria capped the scoring with a penalty kick.
