AUBURN — Central Maine Community College jumped out to a 24-7 first quarter lead and never looked back, defeating the University of New Brunswick Saint John 84-37 on Saturday night in the Mustangs’ women’s basketball home opener.

Jordyn Reynolds led the Mustangs (1-0) with 16 points along with seven steals and six rebounds in just 21 minutes of work. Reynolds got help from teammate Natalie Thurber, who scored 15 points on five 3-pointers, as well as eight points from Kristen Huntress and Sierra Wallace.

Alex Bessey led the Mustangs in assists with six.

CMCC amassed a 36-17 halftime lead but exploded for 36 points in the third to pull away for good.

UNB Saint John (0-1) guard Kathryn Magee led her team with 14 points, but the Seawlves could not overcome the 39 turnovers forced by CMCC.
