LEWISTON — The L/A Nordiques exploded for five goals in the second period and outshot Long Beach, 64-11, for the game in a 9-2 win at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee.
Joe Bisson led the way for the Nordiques with two goals and two assists. Colby Audette and Cole Ouellette each chipped in with a goal and three assists.
Hunter Raye saved nine of the 11 shots he saw in net for the Nordiques (14-1-0), who peppered Long Beach goalie Darren Nathan with 30 shots in the second period alone.
Springfield 4, Twin City Thunder 0
SPRINGFIELD — Springfield jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first period and goalie Trent Pratt took it from there ina 4-0 victory at Olympia Ice Center on Sunday.
The Thunder outshot the Pics, 39-31, but Pratt stopped every shot in net. Four different players scored for Springfield, with Brett Geoffroy’s goal 1:46 into the contest proving to be the game-winner. Mike Wilson, Gene Bouthiette and Noe Turdjmann also potted goals for the Pics.
Tanner Ames made 27 saves in goal for the Thunder (6-8-1).
COLLEGE BASKETBALL
CMCC 68, Champlain-St. Lawrence 24
AUBURN — Central Maine Community College overcame sluggish shooting by playing tough defense and dominating the boards to defeat Champlain-St. Lawrence, 68-24, on Sunday.
Sisters Jordyn and Brooke Reynolds each posted a double-double for the Mustangs (2-0). Brooke finished with 14 points, 13 rebounds, four steals and three assists, while Jordyn tallied 10 points, 16 rebounds, five steals and two blocks.
CMCC shot 37.8 percent (31-for-82) from the floor but more than made up for it by forcing 30 turnovers and outrebounding the Lions, 62-30.
Jeanne Bellerose led the Lions with 8 points.
