AUBURN — The Roman Catholic Diocese of Portland announced Wednesday that Saint Dominic Academy will reorganize its leadership to enhance student recruitment and retention, fundraising and services to the school community.
According to a written statement from the Diocese, the academy seeks a new president to oversee development, marketing and enrollment efforts at both the Auburn (grades 7 to 12) and Lewiston (pre-K to grade 6) campuses.
“The president will ensure that the school’s mission and Catholic identity are promoted and preserved,” said Jim King, superintendent of Maine Catholic Schools.
“We are looking for someone who is committed to preparing well-rounded, value-centered individuals and to pursuing exciting new avenues to grow the academy.”
Donald Fournier will serve as president and principal of the academy until a new president is hired. Fournier will become the full-time principal of the Auburn campus upon the appointment of a new president.
“I’m looking forward to overseeing the day-to-day academic initiatives at the Auburn campus and having the opportunity to more closely support schoolwide goals,” Fournier said.
He served as principal at the academy for eight years prior to assuming the president’s role in 2014.
“I’m very passionate about working with our families and teachers directly and being hands on in bringing our strategic plan to fruition,” Fournier said.
Marianne Pelletier will continue as the principal of the Lewiston campus, a position she has held since June 2016. Pelletier will collaborate with Fournier and the new president in helping to guide the school, which is now in its 77th year.
“These changes will assure that the true Catholic identity of the school is preserved while all possibilities for innovative progress are fully explored,” Bishop Robert P. Deeley said in a prepared statement.
“Throughout the proud history of Saint Dominic Academy, many operational changes have come to pass, but its focus on faith, integrity, service and academic excellence has never wavered.”
