Meeting features program on balsam fir 

CHESTERVILLE — The North Chesterville Extension Homemakers will be meeting at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 27, in the Town Office on the Dutch Gap Road.

Guest speaker, Dave Fuller, agriculture and non-timber forest products professional at the Franklin County Cooperative Extension Office, will be presenting a program entitled “Identifying and Products from Balsam Fir” starting at 7 p.m.

Seniors accepting reservations for holiday party

RUMFORD — The Rumford Senior Citizens Club will be accepting reservations for their annual Christmas Party until Nov. 29, so they can have a definite count for the caterer.

Kiwanis first Breakfast in Whoville

NORWAY — The Norway-Paris Kiwanis Club will hold its first-ever Breakfast in Whoville from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, where members invite the children of Oxford Hills to meet Santa and Mrs. Claus and all their friends from Whoville.

Each child will be entered in a drawing to win a new donated sled. The event will be in the OHCHS Culinary Arts dining room. The cost is $6, free for kids 12 and under. Kiwanis members will be serving pancakes, French toast casserole, eggs, bacon, sausage and beverage.

Rotary holds Festival of Trees

FARMINGTON — The Rotary will present its annual Festival of Trees on Chester Greenwood Day, Saturday, Dec. 1, at the Farmington Community Center on Middle Street. Doors open at 9 a.m. for visitors to view 25 trees and a number of wreaths decorated by local organizations and businesses.

Musicians will play throughout the day and a stuffed polar bear will go home with one door prize winner. A raffle tree with more than $2,000 worth of gift certificates and items will be raffled off as well.

All trees and wreaths will be auctioned off starting at 6 p.m. The event is free and open to the public, and all proceeds support local and international projects ranging from area heating assistance programs to water purification projects in underdeveloped countries.

Reasonable humans at Socrates Cafe

BRIDGTON — The Socrates Cafe will meet Monday, Dec. 3, at the Bridgton Community Center to discuss the subject, “Are Humans Reasonable?”

The meet and greet will be held from 6:15 to 6:30 p.m., and the discussion will take place from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Jim Kearney will be the moderator. Light refreshments will be provided.

Phillips to hold Christmas through the Ages tour

PHILLIPS — Several of the town’s organizations will be holding Christmas Through the Ages, a serial tour through five different periods of Christmas celebrations in history, beginning at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, in the downtown area. All five historic buildings are within walking distance.

RUMFORD — Fraternal Order of Eagles host Texas hold ’em poker tournaments on the second Thursday of each month.

PARIS — The AMVETS monthly Texas hold ’em poker tournaments are held at from 5 p.m. to midnight on the first Friday of the month at the American Legion Hall.
