Mrs. Lewis Peck, county chairman of the Junior Red Cross, announces that the Lewiston-Auburn Junior Red Cross has accepted the requisitions for 3,000 veneered splints and 10 hospital tables. This is in line with the work being done in larger cities, where various kinds of hospital supplies are being made by the Junior Red Cross. The children of the Healy Asylum and St. Peter’s school will be organized this week, for work by the county chairman. Mrs. Peck said the graded school in Leeds has joined the Junior Red Cross 100 percent. Interest in rural schools is increasing, all of them show a most commendable spirit for service.

Maine Special Olympics is a year-round program that offers athletic training and competition. This year various groups are being asked to help by participating in the dinners fundraising project. The idea is for each group to raise $100 by April 1994. A reception to be held at the Blaine House in Augusta is planned for April. Each committed group will be asked to send a representative to the governor’s mansion in April to present their check, meet with the governor, and be recognized for their efforts.
