FARMINGTON —  The driver of a car that lost traction Nov. 27 on Route 27, north of Kingfield, and skidded into the path of a tractor-trailer truck, has died.

“The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office is sad to report a second fatality as a result of the November 27 car (versus) tractor-trailer that occurred on route 27 North of Kingfield,” Sheriff Scott Nichols Sr. wrote in a news statement Monday.

Leroy Gordon, 76, of Farmington passed away Friday evening, according to the Maine Medical Examiner’s office, Nichols wrote.

Gordon’s grandson, Seth Gordon, 28, of Farmington, was killed instantly in the collision.

Gordon and his step-great-grandson, Scott Kidder, 18, of Farmington, were critically injured and were taken to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston. Kidder’s condition was unclear Monday.

Franklin County Sheriff’s deputies continue to investigate the collision.

Truck driver Cedrick Allaire, 25, of Westbury, Quebec was not hurt, according to Nichols.

Witnesses told deputies that neither vehicle appeared to be traveling at excessive speed, Nichols wrote previously.
