BLAINE, Minn. — Cole Ouellette scored on the power play with just over six minutes left to lift the L/A Nordiques to a 3-2 victory the Milwaukee Power at the NA3HL Showcase on Sunday.
Ouellette’s game-winner was the third power-play goal of the game for the Nordiques, who twice had to rally from one-goal deficits.
Logan Geisness gave the Power a 1-0 lead after one period, but Donovan Tehan tied the game up eight minutes into the second. Zack Mullen assisted the goal.
Caleb Beversdorf scored 26 seconds into the third on a Milwaukee power play to give the Power the lead back, but Joshua Sanchez made it 2-2 just past the nine-minute mark on an assist from JP Chauvin.
Colby Audette assisted on Ouellete’s go-ahead-for-good goal.
Owen Liskiewicz stopped 24 of 26 shots for L/A, while Aaron Dickstein made 30 saves for Milwaukee.
South Shore Kings jump on Thunder from the start
FOXBOROUGH, Mass. — The South Shore Kings stunned the visiting Twin City Thunder at the start of Sunday’s USPHL contest, scoring two goals in the first 65 seconds and taking a four-goal lead into the first intermission of a 4-1 win at Foxboro Sports Center.
Matt Cavallaro scored 27 seconds in for the Kings and Cameron Croteau doubled the lead 38 seconds later. Patrick Sunderland and John Witkowski also scored before the first 20 minutes was through.
Kade Kaminski assisted on the first two goals, and Ryan Coady had helpers on the next two. Curtis Judd, Cavallaro, Witkowski and Jacob Mitchell all had one assist apiece.
Aleksi Petrow put the Thunder on the board late in the second period with a power-play goal. Nicolas Poirier and Etienne Crousle had assists.
Tanner Ames took the loss for the Thunder after allowing three goals on nine shots faced, with six saves. Jaxon Friedman came on in relief after the third goal and stopped 26 of 27 shots.
Jake Horoho stopped 27 of 28 shots in goal for the Kings.
